Painting portraits with colored pencils

colored pencilBrilliant illustrations and comprehensive instructions make “Colored Pencil Painting Portraits” by Alyona Nickelson an incredible resource for the artist who loves to draw.  Who knew colored pencils could render such beautiful portraits?  Nickelson is talented and her work looks very much like a photograph and is so lifelike.  It doesn’t look like a drawing.  She is very thorough and her book will help artists who want to learn to draw portraits with colored pencils refine their work.

Instructions include a guide for combining colors to create just the right skin tones.  She shares her recommendations for the right brands/types of pencils and gives step-by-step instructions for several projects.

“Colored Pencil Painting Portraits” is extremely helpful and makes a great gift for a budding artist.
