7 life changing encounters with the love of Christ

piercedDoes God’s love hurt?. We ask “how can it be love if it causes pain?” But Kelli Worrall asks, “how can it be love if it’s painless?”  Worrall’s book “Pierced and Embraced” explores this question by demonstrating that God doesn’t just ask for a part of our heart; He wants the whole thing.

Jesus pursued women in the Gospels–tenderly but sometimes painfully.  Through the stories of Mary, the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene, the woman at the well and others, we learn what Jesus will do to show us we are truly loved.

Sometimes we are called to do impossible things.  Sometimes we are sought after when we aren’t wanting to be found.  We are forgiven when we don’t deserve forgiveness.  We are healed and given life and shown value and empowered to serve. Jesus finds the very thing we need and fulfills it in ways that may cause us pain, at least at first.

Worrall’s book is uniquely encouraging.  Each chapter ends with questions for reflection and discussion making it an excellent resource for small groups.
