Experiencing God’s Power and Presence

alive“Alive In the Spirit” is a compilation of sermons of A.W. Tozer from the 1950s compiled and edited by James L. Snyder.  It is interesting to note that the church today is experiencing the same issues as it was when Tozer was preaching.  Through the boldness of Tozer’s sermons, we see that the church was leaning toward entertainment and away from worship.  We also see that people are still talking about what being “filled with the Spirit” looks like and how to experience the Spirit’s involvement in our life.

In fact, Tozer’s boldness in his tone and frankness in his delivery (even in the writing), may take you aback especially if you are used to the political correctness of many of today’s contemporary pastors and their sermons.  We don’t often hear pastors speak with such boldness today as maybe we should.

This is a must-have book for any “fan” of Tozer’s and a must-read for anyone who seeks to be filled with the Holy Spirit and struggles to know what that means and what it looks like.  Tozer explains how not only to have the Spirit, but also to be filled with the Spirit.
