Melissa Spoelstra’s Total Family Makeover Giveaway

family-makeoverThe greatest responsibility parents have is to disciple their children, but sometimes our schedules and other responsibilities distract us from this important task.  Melissa Spoelstra focuses on eight key habits to building family discipleship in “Total Family Makeover”.

Just like us, our children need to know what it means to be a follower of Jesus.  We can’t take our children’s salvation for granted, so we shouldn’t leave this responsibility to Sunday school teachers, VBS or pastors.

Developing the eight habits suggested by Spoelstra is not only an important part of a Christian’s faith, it is absolutely essential for our children.  These eight habits include prayer, reading the Bible, mentoring, finding community in the church, service, resting, giving back to God and sharing our faith.

In order to engage in these habits, we will have to reevaluate our priorities.  Most of what Spoelstra recommends is something we should all be doing anyway.  She goes into great depth and gives a lot of helpful ideas and advice along with discussion questions for small groups.

Spoelstra’s practical approach gives parents a path to follow in discipling our children.
