Pray for the impossible

intercessory prayerWith over 600,000 copies sold, “Intercessory Prayer” by Dutch Sheets is a classic work on how vital our prayers are and how God partners with us through prayer.  Sheets’ work is informative, but his attempts at humor while explaining a chapter’s subject matter began to really get distracting.  Some anecdotes were relevant while it seemed like others needed stretched to reach the topic and took away from the subject of prayer.

The last three chapters were the best when he discusses the substance of prayer, actions and words and the watchman anointing.  I particularly appreciated the word studies and found them very enlightening as they pertain to  intercessory prayer.

Each chapter ends with questions for reflection and are perfect for small group discussion.  The book also has a helpful leader’s guide for discussion.
