Another great book by Davis Bunn

patmosAn ancient island holds an ancient secret and three unlikely heroes must discover the secret before it’s gone forever.  Nick Hennessy, a young Texas journalist, is investigating the disappearance of Grecian antiquities.  Carey Mathers, a forensic archaeologist, finds herself in Greece without a job, but teams up with Nick to uncover the mysteries of the stolen treasures. Dimitri Rubinos, a local who owns a charter boat business, has gotten himself in over his head but agrees to help Nick and Carey find the treasures and return them to their rightful place.

Nick and Carey have known each other for a long time.  She is afraid to fall in love with him because he ran away from her before.  Dimitri and Nick both fall in love with Carey who is more interested in the Greek antiquities than finding love on a Greek Island.

The level of suspense is not as intense as Davis Bunn’s previous books, but the ancient secrets of Patmos where the Apostle John received his vision and spends the last years of his life holds a certain fascination.  When you add danger, romance and suspense, you have the makings of a book that you can’t put down.
