‘Look and Live’ disappointing

look and liveThe topic of Matt Papa’s “Look and Live” was intriguing–how to break free from living between where we are and where we ought to be.  “Look and Live” promises to help you break free from the cycle of fighting the same sin over and over again.  Finding a book that claims to have a solution to help you strop striving sounds appealing.  Matt Papa wants to set us free by showing us how to see the love of God and experiencing His glory.

“Look and Live” doesn’t bring anything new to the topic of sin.  As a worship leader, Papa uses examples and analogies based on music and his experiences as a worship leader.  The best chapter of “Look and Live” is Chapter 9 entitled “Show Me Your Glory”.  In this chapter, we are challenged to ask ourselves will we choose to behold our God through His Word, through our prayers or will we behold the idols of this world?  If we want to encounter the glory of God, we will make a conscious decision to become addicted to the glory of God.
