Live an exuberant life with Jesus with “Heart Wide Open”

heart wide openDo you have a faith that is more routine, mundane or perhaps even restless?  Does your soul yearn for more?  Or maybe you want to yearn for more than just enough Jesus?  Shellie Rushing Tomlinson longed for more than her routine faith.  She wanted to love God with everything she had–with an all-consuming passion.  The secret, she discovered, was praying and asking God for the desire and abandoning self to His wisdom and guidance.

Each chapter contains ways to be more devoted to your relationship with God and how to live a life of intimacy with Him.   One disturbing element was the mention of holding a seance as a child.  Comparing our quiet time to an atmosphere of a seance is wrong on several levels.  We are calling on a Living God who is present in the here and now not a god we have to conjure up from the dead.  The encouraging prayers at the conclusion of each chapter as well as the Bible Study and discussion guide are helpful in pursuing a heart wide open.  Other than the chapter on quiet times, this would make a decent small group study.
