‘Our Southern Breeze’ a God story

If you read “Same Kind of Different As Me” by Ron Hall, you will love “Our Southern Breeze” written by Daphene Jones, Deborah Hall’s twin sister.  As you will recall, Debbie was instrumental in changing the life of Denver Moore, a homeless man, and the lives of so many others.  She died of cancer in 2000.

Daphene and Deborah’s story is a story of how God uses people and circumstances to bring about dramatic changes in the lives of His people.  From the very beginning, Jones captures your heart as she discloses difficult truths about her life and herself.  She opens herself up and reveals the dirtiness of life and the messes we all sometimes find ourselves in when we take wrong turns and make wrong choices.  She, like most of us, finds that coming to terms with our failures, repenting of our sins and following God’s path for us can be a remarkable journey best travelled with those that we love.

This story is as much about God as it is about two sisters who struggled through childhood, wavered through adulthood and eventually became instruments of God’s purpose.  It tells of a sister’s struggle to please others and another’s struggle to change the lives of those around her.  Even when she was sick with cancer, Deborah never stopped being the light in the darkness for thousands of people.

Today, 12 years after her death, she is still changing lives for Christ.  This book is a testimony of faith, God’s faithfulness and His ever-present help in times of trouble.  Let Jones show you how God made a difference in her life and how He can make a difference in yours, too.
