“The Tehran Initiative” is a fast-paced, hard-to-put-down thriller that will keep your fingers on the edge of the page ready to see what happens next. The book begins with an Iranian plot to assassinate the Prime Minister of Israel, the President of the United States and the President of Egypt. The President of the U.S. then sends a top official to Israel to coerce the Prime Minister not to launch a preemptive strike against Iran. The attempt is successful in killing the President of Egypt and seriously wounding the President of the United States and the Israeli Prime Minister. In an uncanny twist of events, several months ago, the United States foiled an Iranian plot to assassinate officials from Israel and Saudi Arabia and then sent a top U.S. Official to Israel to ask them not to launch a preemptive strike against Iran.
CIA operative David Shirazi, aka Reza Tabrizi, has his hands full as he tries to juggle his personal and professional lives, one as a loyal son and the other as an undercover agent trying to link Iran with the acquisition and building of nuclear weapons. Trying to stay one step ahead, Shirazi must also decide between atheism and faith in God. As he struggles with his faith, he also struggles with his questionable actions to save himself and the world.
Joel Rosenberg suggests the goal of the Islamists is to usher in the appearance of the Twelfth Imam who they consider to be the messiah. A growing theme among many Muslims, according to Rosenberg, is to build a global Islamic empire, or a “caliphate,” which is why it is imperative that they totally annihilate Israel and the United States. Why write about anything else when you can write a political thriller based on biblical prophecy and current world events? Rosenberg, bestselling author of riveting political thrillers, studies prophecy, travels extensively throughout the Middle East and listens to world leaders and influencers which have helped him create undoubtedly the most thought-provoking and frightening story lines ever written.
